Diagnostic assessments include:

 

  • Review of medical, educational, and mental health records

  • A clinical interview, including a thorough history, DSM-5 symptom review, and assessment of unique strengths and challenges

  • Administration of best-quality, psychological and neuropsychological tests and scales 

  • A feedback session and delivery of a complete diagnostic report, with individualized recommendations

Telehealth (internet video-based) appointments

Convenient and secure video telehealth appointments remove many barriers to access, and are an excellent option for many patients.

Testing Clinic: Office-Based Assessments and Consultation

Dr. Steve Newman

Steven D. Newman, PsyD, ABPP is a licensed psychologist in Colorado and Wyoming, and multi-state provider via PSYPACT Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology. He received his bachelor's degree from Miami University (Ohio) in English and Psychology, and his doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA, in 1988. Since 2000, he has been Board-Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Newman has enjoyed a diverse practice for over 30 years, having served at various times as clinical director of inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, and community rehabilitation programs, treating child and adult psychological disorders, adult neurodevelopmental disorders, and brain injuries. He has specialized training in the assessment and treatment of cognitive and developmental problems, anxiety, and depression. In therapy, his emphasis is on relational and cognitive-behavioral approaches. â€‹

Diagnostic Assessment Services and Fees

We strive to offer compassionate, meaningful, and high-quality assessment results that make a difference in people's lives.

Assessments are tailored to individual needs and referral questions and are respectful of patient's time and resources.

An estimate of out-of-pocket expenses is provided prior to clinical services being offered. In general, payment of estimated charges to the patient is due at the time of service.

About Your Appointment

Before the first appointment:

  1. Complete online registration and questionnaire forms as requested

  2. Arrange for medical records to be forwarded

  3. If being seen by telehealth, check your email for a link to the online appointment. (Get more information about preparing for a telehealth visit here)

  4. If you are an adult being seen for memory or intellectual assessment, arrange for a friend or relative to be with you, especially if you need help providing information about your history and daily activities

On the day of the appointment:

  1. Take your usual medications, unless told otherwise by your doctor

  2. Remember to use your glasses or contacts, hearing aids, and other assistive devices

  3. Gather copies of medical records or previous testing

  4. Dress comfortably 

  5. Have your identification and insurance cards handy
